The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, also known as Formula E, celebrated its first championship race in 2014. The electric-car single-seater championship promotes and celebrates the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and the hybridization and electrification of vehicles. In 2020, Formula E received its world championship status — the only single-seater racing series other than Formula 1 to do so.
In its inaugural 2014 season, the Formula E season consisted of 11 races taking place in 10 cities. By 2023, the season has grown to 16 races in 11 cities.
FE drivers compete for two awards throughout the series: the Drivers’ Championship and Teams’ Championship.
French driver Jean-Éric Vergne has won the most Drivers’ Championships, with two. France and Brazil are tied for the most Drivers’ Championships with two apiece, while France and Germany are tied for the most Teams’ Championships, with three each.
Powertrain manufacturer Renault dominates the competition concerning vehicles. The auto manufacturer has represented the most Drivers’ Championships (3) and Teams’ Championships (3).
