The riff from Ray Parker Jr.’s classic hit is enough to elicit images of the goofy, somehow effective team of apparition-catchers. It’s the Ghostbusters, a favorite amongst nostalgic moviegoers and cosplayers alike. Still, the team would have been finished long ago without their trusty ride. And for the next movie, they might want to consider this lifted truck to go where their Cadillac simply can’t.

Specters and spooky villains might have their hands full with this lifted truck version of the Ghostbusters Ecto-1

The “Ecto-1” is the beloved ride of the original Ghostbusters lineup in the 1984 and 1989 films. It’s a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor in ambulance spec, complete with a huge rear compartment for patients. Of course, the Ghostbusters used the Miller-Meteor’s patient compartment to carry ghost-fighting gear like the gang’s proton packs.

Ecto-1 returned for the more recent Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) films. In the latter, the phantom-fighting team added a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with a sidecar to the mix. However, they’ve never used a lifted truck to catch ghosts. Well, no one told the owner of this Chevrolet K15 pickup truck.

One look at the K15 confirms the labor-of-love effort that went into the homage. As expected, the lifted truck features an Ecto-1 lookalike shade of white and the classic emblem on the doors. The truck’s bed also sports a faux radioactive setup not unlike the movie Cadillac Ambulance.

It’s unclear whether the Ghostbusters-liveried K15 has the iconic siren from the movie car. However, the lifted truck does have slime trailing off of its large tires, suggesting it already hunted down a few ghosties. Humorously, the K15 also wears a Texas license plate reading “ECTO-K15.” Lone Star State spinoff anyone?
