This Frustrating Chevy Silverado 1500 Feature is Driving Users Crazy

If you’re starting the new year off by thinking you need a new truck, the Chevy Silverado 1500 has no doubt crossed your mind. It’s been one of the top-selling trucks for years, and Chevy is consistent in keeping up with the competition in terms of power, safety, and technology.

But even with all of its good features, the Chevy Silverado 1500 has a few things that consumers have complained about. Not sure what the Silverado has to offer? Let’s take a look.

The Chevy Silverado 1500’s features

The latest iteration of the Chevy Silverado 1500 comes in eight optional trim choices: the Work Truck, LTZ, High Country, LT Trail Boss, RST, LT, Custom Trail Boss, and Custom. Each offers their own package of built-in features to make them unique and ready to hit the road alongside you.

Many of the latest safety features also come as optional for the 2020 Silverado, but there are a number of standard features as well. All-new Silverado models come with six airbags, daytime running lamps, hitch guidance, OnStar capabilities, a rear vision camera, a stability control system, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Standard technology features for the Chevy Silverado are comparable to other competitors. You get a standard seven-inch touchscreen control panel, with Chevy’s Infotainment 3 system, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This tech allows you to use voice commands to control your smartphone through your truck, giving you the freedom to utilize your phone in a distraction-free manner.

Consumer complaints allows drivers to enter any complaints they have with their vehicle, including what it took to get an issue fixed and how the manufacturer handled the situation if the consumer brought it to their attention. Being that the Chevy Silverado 1500 is one of the most common trucks on the road today, there are plenty of entries in Car Complaints, be them big or small.

One of the most common issues stems in the 2015 model. The 2015 is a prime target for consumers shopping for a used vehicle since it’s recent enough that it will have most of the latest technology, low mileage, and low wear and tear. The 2015 Silverado 1500 apparently has an issue with the Bluetooth functionality. Issues fluctuate between not being able to hear phone calls through Bluetooth, not being able to disconnect from it, and not receiving notifications. Many people reported that they’ve had to take their truck in to repair the issue multiple times.

Another common interior issue for the 2015 Silverado is with the A/C. Many drivers reported that their A/C was blowing hot air, and it’s a known issue with the truck’s condenser, which ultimately needs to be replaced once the problem occurs. One person even said that they’ve had to have the issue fixed three times.

The most commonly mentioned issue for the 2015 Silverado is that the transmission shifts poorly. Problems listed here range from shaky idling to vibrations at high speeds. Some people reported that they weren’t able to find a cause of the problem, while others stated that they needed to replace the transmission. Either way, it doesn’t appear to be a consistent problem.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 is a reliable truck

While Car Complaints lists a number of different issues with the Silverado 1500, it’s important to keep in mind that it’s one of the most common trucks on the road. There are bound to be more entries on websites like Car Complaints for the more common vehicles, so keep that in mind when you’re researching new or used vehicles.
