We’ve all been stressed about getting to the airport on time. However, most drivers can’t say they’ve sped more than 100 miles per hour to do so. One man was subjected to a police traffic stop for doing exactly this. Now, not only did he miss his flight, but he also has to pay a hefty citation.

According to Fox 5 Vegas, a Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper recently conducted a traffic stop on a driver for speeding. The kicker is that the man’s speed wasn’t only a small amount over the limit. Instead, the person behind the wheel was traveling an astounding 104 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. Making matters worse, he did this in a construction zone of all places.

The police officer said of the traffic stop, “He was late, he was trying to get back to California to make a flight to return home to his home state, and that was it.”

Sadly, this level of excessive speeding is commonplace on Nevada roads. According to the officer, “I probably encounter upper 90s to low 100s probably at least once a week, if not every other week.”

The driver has a hefty fine following the traffic stop

The police trooper believes that, due to this having happened in a construction zone, the man could owe about $2,000. This is because fines in the state double in this situation. Luckily for the driver, the trooper didn’t decide to arrest him for reckless driving, which didn’t happen due to his driving history.

The officer added, “If I arrest him, and he does get an arrest, even for the traffic offense, which could very well be the case, that is an adult arrest that will stay with him forever if he’s convicted.”
