Georgia Marathon gas station is under fire for selling contaminated fuel
Most drivers are happy that cheap gas prices have become easier to find. However, there is also the concern about the possibility of getting contaminated fuel when going to gas station pumps. Namely, there have been a few instances lately of people filling up their cars with gas that has water in it. Sadly, this happened to one Georgia woman recently, and there’s no way she was the only one. This is an expensive fix for auto mechanics, so she’s now left without a car.
Going to gas station pumps and driving away with water in the tank is never good
Going to gas station pumps is a relatively safe endeavor. Typically, drivers know that they’re getting what they’re paying for. However, according to 13 WMAZ, Katrina Marshall recently visited her local Marathon gas station to fill up her car. Notably, she has been using the same station for years. Sadly, she told the outlet that her car shut down shortly after filling up this latest time.
Of course, Katrina had the auto mechanics at her local Hyundai dealership look into what went wrong at the Marathon gas station pumps. According to her, they said that there was water in her gas tank, meaning she had gotten contaminated fuel. The mechanics also told her it would be about $3,000 to fix the issue the water caused. Additionally, the gas station owners have yet to offer any assistance. Regarding how she’s getting around, Katrina says, “I have to call Uber twice a day now and $20 round trip, back and forth, and it’s hurting my pockets.”
Since then, the Marathon station has taken the necessary steps to fix the issue with the gas station pumps. As for Katrina, she’s figuring out her next steps to secure repairs for her bricked vehicle. Naturally, the gas station has insurance, which means filing a complaint should hopefully help with the funding for the needed repairs.
