Using gas station pumps is a dreaded but necessary experience. Filling up vehicles isn’t necessarily inexpensive. However, drivers have more to concern themselves with than finding cheap gas prices. Namely, there have been several stories lately of people getting gas that has water in it or that is somehow else contaminated. This happened recently in North Carolina, and several drivers owe quite a bit to auto mechanics because of vehicle damage.

Drivers never know if gas station pumps have the right fuel

Most drivers still use gas-powered cars, so using the pumps at popular stations is normal. Of course, the average driver looks for cheap gas prices, but perhaps there is more that drivers should consider. According to WRAL, a refuel station in Apex, South Carolina, has been found to have gas that doesn’t meet guidelines. This has led to expensive repair bills with auto mechanics.

It’s unclear how many cars suffered after getting gas from the Refuel station pumps. One driver, Dan Hillard, said, “I started to feel my car lurch and make some grinding noises. It sounded like it was going to be expensive.” Apparently, his automotive issues began a few miles from the gas station. Another Apex resident, Kristen Montgomery, said her stepfather filled up while visiting. According to her, “They’re stuck. They’re stuck in another state with the wrong gas.” She went on, “They can’t drive the car at all. It’s completely shot.”

There were also some reports about the gas station pumps on social media. Notably, they described many of the same issues as the other drivers who went to the Refuel station. John Wolf, who was also visiting the area, said, ” It sputtered like it was having trouble breathing.” It’s unclear what went wrong, but there have been reports of other stations having gas with water in it. As of March 30, this station was only selling premium gas, so no regular or diesel. A spokesperson confirmed that there was a “compromised fuel delivery.”
