Car owners have much to be concerned about when it comes to keeping their vehicles running smoothly. Sadly, this also includes being wary of the pumps at popular gas stations, as they could have water in them. This happened recently to a family in Kentucky, and now they’re sounding the alarm about their experience and the options drivers have in these situations instead of having to pay an arm and a leg to auto mechanics.

Gas station pumps having water in them isn’t unheard of

According to Local 12 News, a family recently went to a local Speedway station and used the gas pumps to fill up. However, they realized almost right away that something was wrong as their car started to display mechanical issues. Specifically, they were barely out of the parking lot when they started. Henry Waters, the driver, said, “The stoplight turns green, and I just try to press the gas, and it just, nothing happens. I try to go, nothing happens.”

The car then stalled in the middle of the road not long after using the pumps at the gas station. However, they didn’t initally assume is was due to the gas potentially having water in it. Melissa Waters said, “We started trying to figure out what was wrong. We got a new battery and put a new battery in it; that didn’t solve it. We put a new airflow tube in it.” They were at the repairs for hours trying to get their car to run.

Finally, they decided to return to the gas station and then realized that some of the pumps were now out of service. This included the one they had used. They spoke to the person working inside and learned they had discovered that the gas had water in it. Now, they have been ensured that Speedway will take care of the the repairs from auto mechanics. Henry and Melissa now want everyone in their area to know what happened so they can reach out to Speedway in case they also got bad gas.
