For many drivers, using the pumps at gas stations is a common occurrence. After all, most drivers still own gas-powered vehicles. The problem is that there’s always a chance of getting gas with water in it, which recently happened in Georgia, and now several drivers are becoming familiar with the local auto mechanics.

The pumps at the gas station have been shut down until the water in them has been removed

According to WMAZ 13, Jessica Johnson recently used the gas station pumps at the YUG Food Mart on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon. She later began to experience mechanical issues with her vehicle. This prompted her to seek out auto mechanics in the area to diagnose the problem. Sadly, Jessica learned that she had gotten gas that had water in it, which is known to cause a host of issues.

Jessica now needs expensive repairs after using the pumps at her local gas station. As a result, she decided to report the issue, which led to the Georgia Department of Agriculture conducting an investigation. They found that the mid-grade and premium gas options at the station contained approximately 20 percent water, which is a significant amount. Because of this, the gas station can only sell regular gas until further notice.

The previously mentioned outlet states that they visited the gas station and observed that the pumps were not in operation as of April 28th. The report reads, “Product does not meet ASTM specification on tests performed. Sample fails for water. Sample contains approximately 20% water.” In most cases, gas stations found with these issues have ways to either reimburse or pay for repairs. Drivers should contact their claims departments if they have filled up with contaminated fuel. Still, drivers should be aware that getting contaminated fuel is rare, despite its apparent prevalence.
