Imagine paying $25.67 to fill up your car with gas. Then, checking your account to discover that you were actually charged $2,567 to fill up due to a decimal error. This is a horror story drivers are experiencing in Kansas, and the gas station responsible hasn’t provided refunds.

Drivers overcharged thousands by Kansas gas station need refunds

Multiple drivers are outraged by the negligence caused by a 7-Eleven gas station in Leavenworth, Kansas. The store located at 609 Metropolitan Avenue overcharged people getting gas between 4 AM and 2 PM on Thursday, December 11.

To make things worse, up to six stores may have been impacted by the company hasn’t clarified which of the other locations were impacted.

According to Fox KC, a decimal error overcharged about 200 people or more by thousands for fuel. One woman filled up her car on her way to send a holiday package to her husband in the military. He’s currently stationed overseas.

At her next stop, her card was declined, so she checked her accounts. Instead of being charged $29.56, $2,956 was taken from her account. Another person was charged $8,265.

One customer went to the store to get a refund for $3,000. However, she was told that she received a trespassing warning. Others complained that they’ve called customer service numbers only to be hung up on or told to call their bank.

Finally, 7-Eleven shared that it’s actively working with the payment processor to reverse the charges. Customers will be fully refunded for their original transactions as well.

But this could take 30 to 60 days, leaving people without the necessary funds for the Holiday season. However, state officials claim the pumps are working properly again.
