The gas-powered Chevy Blazer isn’t canceled anymore
The landscape for automakers is constantly changing, and Chevrolet wastes no time in making rapid decisions to ride things out.
When there was a huge push to go green and switch to electric vehicles, Chevy is making solid progress. It has excellent contenders to battle Tesla and Ford EVs.
However, now the new green initiatives are subject to being repealed. Also, the $7,500 federal tax credit that made EVs more affordable ends in September.
So, plans to discontinue the gas-powered Chevy Blazer and Cadillac XT5 have been reversed. According to Kelley Blue Book, a Chevrolet spokesperson shared that both gas-powered SUVs will survive through 2026.
The Blazer uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade to the 3.6-liter V6 engine for 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
With the Cadillac XT5, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque is standard. You can upgrade to the 3.6-liter V6 engine with 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque.
Chevrolet did have plans to convert its factory in Ramos Arizpe into an EV facility for the Blazer. However, now it has been increasing production of gas-powered vehicles in America, and this could change.
Many automakers are making production shifts to skirt around the new 25% tariff on imported vehicles.
