It seems like the Chevy Blazer just made its return in compact SUV form. Now it might already be time to say goodbye. Chevrolet could decide to give the Blazer the axe as it drops a few SUVs to make room for more electric vehicles.

The Chevy Blazer might get discontinued soon

It actually comes as a shock that the Chevy Blazer might be going out to pasture. It seems like it finally just started to gain momentum against well-established rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5.

But General Motors might not have space for the compact SUV. The Blazer and a few other SUVs might bite the dust to make space for more electric models.

According to Car and Driver, General Motors is planning to only build EVs at its factory in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. This is where the gas-powered Blazer is currently being built.

It’s unclear if its production could fit in another factory. Rumors suggest that the Blazer will be discontinued by the end of 2025. Plus, General Motors might cut the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 from its lineup.

If the Blazer is discontinued, then Chevrolet will lose an affordable option that fits perfectly in the lineup. It’s larger than the Trailblazer but smaller and more affordable than the Equinox

While the Equinox features parts built in the Ramos Arizpe plant, its final assembly is in Canada. Some of its parts also come from China.

The Ramos Arizpe plant already builds EV versions of the Blazer and the Equinox. Some rumors suggest that only the gas-powered Blazer will be discontinued. However, the gas-powered model is more affordable than the EV variant.
