The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is the newest Mazda SUV on the block, and by all accounts, it should be pretty great. In fact, it’s rumored that the 2023 Mazda CX-50 might even be able to squash the Mazda CX-5, though it’s too soon to say that for certain. Still, Mazda has once again what it does best. It’s created a top-notch SUV that includes the basics, is solid, but has little unnecessary. What will the 2023 Mazda CX-50 price be, and when will it be available?

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-50’s price?

Mazda hasn’t released pricing on the 2023 Mazda CX-50 yet, but it’s likely that it will cost slightly more than the Mazda CX-5, at $27,945. That’s according to Car and Driver, who says that the Mazda CX-50 will be built in the Alabama plant that Mazda shares with Toyota.

The 2023 Mazda CX-5 will have two engines available. The base model is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The capabilities of this engine will be similar to that of the Mazda CX-5, with 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a turbocharged engine that makes 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. These two engines are both matched to a six-speed transmission.

What is the Mazda CX-50 release date?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 will be released in the spring of 2022. In addition to having a similar powertrain to the CX-5, it’s likely that the 2023 Mazda CX-50 will also have similar dimensions. However, they won’t be exactly the same. The CX-50 should be slightly longer than the CX-5, and be able to hold more passengers. It will also have a higher ground clearance than the Mazda CX-5, and be more amenable to off-roading.

In addition, the 2023 CX-50’s exterior will also play to its off-roading appeal. It will come with black plastic cladding around the wheel wells and front and rear bumpers. It should also be available with a roof rack and all-terrain tires. The CX-50 will also be able to come in an outdoorsy-sounding paint color called Zircon Sand.

The new Mazda SUV will compete with Subaru

In addition to potentially wiping out the Mazda CX-5, the new 2023 Mazda CX-50 will be competitive with Subaru. Subaru has a few SUVs that are known for their rugged appeal, like the Forester and Outback. To rival these two popular Subaru SUVs, the Mazda CX-50 will come with all-wheel drive and an outdoorsy exterior.

The other exciting aspect of the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is its future hybrid powertrain. Although Mazda hasn’t released a whole lot of information about the Mazda CX-50 hybrid, rumors are that it’s coming. It would join the growing class of electric SUVs, and broaden Mazda’s offerings.

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 should be both another solid SUV in the Mazda lineup, as well as a new twist on an old concept. When the 2023 CX-50 becomes available in 2022, we’ll be able to see up-close just how new – and old – the CX-50 can be.
