The Ford Mustang Mach-E has already been recalled four times thus far. The Most recent Mach-E Recall is due to an unintended acceleration issue. The Mach-E’s unintended acceleration could potentially cause accidents. The recall affects 464 Mach-E electric SUVs (2021 models only).

According to InsideEVs, Ford Sold over 27,000 Mach-E electric SUVs in America in 2021, so a very small percentage of the vehicles were affected by the recall. An over-the-air update is expected to solve the issue for most affected models.

While unintended acceleration is a strange and serious issue, Ford’s quick response to the problem should save the affected models from serious damage. The possibilities of over-the-air software updates make recalls much less of a hassle for consumers.

Luckily for Ford, no serious Mach-E accidents have made headlines yet due to the unintended acceleration problem. The Mach-E is no stranger to recalls or issues, but that doesn’t make the electric SUV any less great in the eyes of many consumers.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E was the best EV of 2021

The Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV made quite the impact in 2021. The Mach-E was Car and Driver’s 2021 EV of the Year. The Mach-E was one of the best-selling electric vehicles as well. It trailed the Tesla Model Y and Tesla Model 3 in sales in 2021.

The Blue Oval’s first EV got an amazing reception despite early skepticism. The Mach-E has become a favorite in the electric SUV vehicle segment. It’s much more affordable than the Tesla Model Y and is a better alternative for many consumers. The Mach-E has engaging driving dynamics, a bold exterior styling, and decent driven range.

It is also quicker than many of its rivals. The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT makes an incredible 480 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. The Mach-E GT can go from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds.

The Mach-E dominated the competition in 2021, but there are plenty of new rivals on the scene for 2022. The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at $43,895. It makes 266 horsepower. The base model Mach-E Select gets 224 miles of range.

Many experts and automotive publications are calling the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 the best electric SUV. The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 starts at $39,950. It makes 168 horsepower. The Ioniq 5 gets 220 miles of range. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 isn’t as quick as the Mach-E, and it doesn’t have as much range, but its smooth ride, fast charging rates, and great handling put it at the top.
