Florida Couple Furious After Car Is Filmed Slamming Into Their G-Wagon in Suspected ‘Hit for Hire’
A Florida couple is convinced that a red Chevrolet Camaro that cameras caught crashing into their Mercedes G-Wagon was a “hit-for-hire.” The bizarre incident occurred over the weekend in northwest Miami-Dade.
Surveillance video taken around 4:42 a.m. on Sunday shows the red Chevy Camaro driving past the couple’s home. Two other vehicles also made multiple passes. Moments later, the driver of the Camaro put the car in reverse and slammed it into the white G63 G-Wagon parked in their driveway.
As if that wasn’t strange enough, the video shows the Camaro driver leap out of the car after the crash. He then ran to a vehicle waiting down the block and got inside.
“We believe these are people who are paid to do this,” said Adrian Fatjo. His girlfriend, Claudia Valeria, bought the $185,000 G-Wagon three weeks before the incident, according to WSVN News.
At first, he assumed the crash was the work of a drunk driver. Then he watched the video.
And then when I look at my cameras, I was like, ‘Okay, this is not that,’” he said. “There was a getaway vehicle; they literally crashed on purpose to hit this vehicle specifically.”
The couple is more concerned about their safety than they are about the damaged G-Wagon
Naturally, the couple isn’t happy about the repair bills they now face. Police told them someone had stolen the red Camaro used in the crash from a nearby home just minutes earlier.
“We’re not concerned about the vehicle, we’re not concerned about any of those things, we’re just concerned about who did this, and are we at risk when it comes to safety?” said Fatjo. They are offering a $15,000 reward for information that leads to whoever is behind the incident.
“We are offering a reward of $15,000 because the fact that someone would steal the red Camaro and have a getaway vehicle while wearing a mask raises serious safety concerns for us,” he wrote on Instagram.
He added that his girlfriend “worked incredibly hard to purchase this vehicle less than a month ago, and it is extremely heartbreaking for someone to damage it out of spite. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.”
