SUV driver hits Domino’s in Utah, causing it to explode
Burnt pizza could be smelled for miles around Herriman, Utah, after a wreck sparked an explosion. An SUV driver slammed into a Domino’s Pizza building and ruptured a gas line, sending a fireball into the sky.
The incident occurred around 10:15 PM, so the store was empty at the time of impact. Also, the blast ripped the roof of the building.
The explosion could be heard by residents, and debris flew through the air. Luckily, witnesses saw the SUV strike the building and didn’t waste any time. They ran in and pulled the driver and passenger to safety before the vehicle was engulfed.
According to CVS news, the vehicle was involved in a three-car accident that sent the driver into the building. Over 60 firefighters quickly responded to the scene to get the flames under control.
While the pizza restaurant suffered significant damage, the Jimmy John’s and Supercut stores nearby were also destroyed. No firefighters were injured during the explosion.
The vehicle that hit the building was being driven by a 70-year-old man with a 72-year-old passenger. One vehicle was being driven by a teenager with a learner’s permit, and the other had a 26-year-old male behind the wheel.
Each driver was injured and taken to a local hospital. Their current condition is unknown. It took all night to get control of the fire.
