‘Just, Why?’ Beloved Dodge Charger Stolen, Torched in Street Takeover [Video]
Well, this doesn’t seem fair at all. Shawna is a muscle car enthusiast, but thieves stole her Dodge Charger. They didn’t flip it for cash. The thieves didn’t need transportation. They didn’t even race it. They stole the car simply to film destroying it.
The Florida woman said she hoped to keep the sedan much longer. “I had it eight years, eight years and two months, and I was never getting rid of it, ’cause I love my car.”
Ring doorbell camera footage recorded just after Christmas shows someone starting the car and racing away into the night. Miami-Dade County deputies told Shawna the thieves may have used a signal repeater. The device can trick a car into thinking key fobs stored inside a house are close enough to unlock and start the vehicle.
“I worked for my car, I pay for my car, I kept my car in perfect condition, and for somebody to come take it from me, it’s not fair.”
Stolen Charger later appeared in viral takeover video
The theft wasn’t the final shock that night. Hours later, Shawna saw her Charger featured in a viral social media post.
“They took it, and I saw a video of several people just beating it and then setting it on fire, and it’s, why? Why, why did you do that to my car?” Shawna said. “I just don’t understand that.”
“Seeing what happened to it is, it was disturbing and sad…It’s not only sad for my car, but just sad for what the kids are doing these days. Drive your own car, do drifts, destroy your own car, stop stealing others,” she added.
Miami-Dade police urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Tips remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $5,000. You can see the latest coverage in the video embedded below:
