California couple hits man with truck then pepper sprays him
A man in California is recovering after being hit by a truck and doused in pepper spray. For some reason, a couple hunted the man down and attacked him. Plus, the pickup they used might have been stolen.
California couple strikes man with truck and attacks with pepper spray
Police officers in Apple Valley, California, responded to reports of a violent attack in a residential neighborhood in the 20800 block of Tussing Ranch Road.
A 37-year-old man was minding his business and walking through the neighborhood when an aggressive couple took notice.
The suspects, identified as Jacquelyn Chanley Chapmans and David William Schaar, watched the man walk by their home.
Then they decided to jump in their truck and chase him down. Police officers shared that the man was struck by the vehicle and run over several times. The vehicular assault ended when the man became pinned under a tire.
But according to Yahoo, the couple wasn’t done. They exited the pickup and pepper-sprayed the victim in the face. Police found the couple nearby and arrested them shortly after. The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Chapman was charged with suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and auto theft. Schaar was booked on suspicion of unlawful use of pepper spray. It’s unclear if the auto theft charge is related to the vehicle used during the assault or a prior charge.
Reports don’t include more information or a suspected motive. I’m wondering if the couple was operating under the influence. Also, I hope the victim has a speedy recovery.
