Ohio driver caused a multi-car crash after missing their exit in Columbus
Missing an exit while driving on the interstate can feel like the worst thing in the world. After all, it could throw a wrench into your entire trip. This happened to one driver in Columbus, Ohio, recently, and now they’re being called out online for how their reaction caused a series of car wrecks.
Car wrecks can happen for all sorts of reasons, but this one is truly bizarre
According to The Columbus Dispatch, traffic was flowing as it always does on the interstate. However, things took a turn when a red van caused a series of car wrecks by stopping in the middle of the road after missing an exit. This happened on April 30th at about 5:25 p.m., and they were on Interstate 71 south. Traffic was busy, and there sat the van with the turn signal light on, as they still expected to take the exit they had missed.
Here’s where the previously mentioned car wrecks come in. Many cars were able to go around the irresponsible driver. However, two other vans stopped behind the original driver, and a third then crashed into the stopped vehicles. The odd thing is that the original driver wasn’t a part of the pile-up. Then, footage shows the first van drive off as though they hadn’t just caused a multi-vehicle crash. In fact, it looks as though they took the exit they initially missed.
Following the series of car wrecks, the driver is being severely called out online. This isn’t only by social media users; the Ohio Department of Transportation has even used it as a teachable moment. Ultimately, people who miss their exits should accept that they may be late getting to their destinations. Stopping in the middle of a busy interstate is never okay. Doing this could easily cause car accidents, and people could be hurt.
