Police are warning drivers following a “warm up” car theft that led to a $50k bond

Anyone can become a victim of car theft
According to WYFF4, police in Monroe, North Carolina, received a call recently about a car theft having taken place at a business. Once on the scene, the officers learned that an employee had started her car in order to allow it to warm up. However, while back inside the business, someone stole it. Naturally, she was shocked when she tried to leave in the car.
Luckily, the police officers could quickly locate the car theft suspect and the vehicle. In fact, the man, Justin Tyler Simpson, 20, was inside the car at a motel in Monroe. They arrested the man and gave him a $50,000 secure bond. The report says that Justin complied with the officers and didn’t put up a fight.
Following the car theft arrest, the police in Monroe, North Carolina, are issuing a warning to vehicle owners. They did so with a few tips. First, they say starting your car with a remote key fob is one of the safest ways to warm it up. This is the case because it remains locked during the process. They said to also monitor your surroundings. Of course, they also recommend not leaving your car running at stores or other businesses.
