As has always been the case, drivers have much to concern themselves with. However, one of the most pressing issues is car theft, which impacts private owners and showrooms alike. Recently, one Virginia woman nearly lost her life after being confronted by a carjacker at her home. Here’s what happened.

Car theft is a massive issue, and it’s not uncommon for a carjacker to get away with their crime

One of the sad realities of life is that innocent and unsuspecting people are often faced with crime at their homes. According to WRIC, this happened to Graciela Montecino on April 4th in Henrico County, Virginia. She had just gotten home and pulled into her driveway when someone opened her door. This was around 8:30 p.m. She said, “I was going to get out of the car when my passenger door opened, and I thought, ‘Oh, it must be my brother’… and then I saw two guns.” Sadly, she became the victim of car theft.

Like many instances of car theft, the two men wore ski masks and black clothing. They ordered her out of the 2022 Toyota Camry and drove off in it. The woman then said, “I was thinking, ‘Okay, please don’t kill me, please don’t shoot me — I’m only 23 years old, I have plans, I have dreams that I want to achieve, I want a family, I want to live my life.'”

Police officers in the area responded to the car theft within minutes. Still, they have yet to uncover the two suspects or the vehicle. Naturally, many of her belongings were in the car, including credit cards. She later noticed that they had stolen $200 using an ATM. The woman hopes that law enforcement will be able to track them since they have used her card. Since the crime, Graciela’s life has been uprooted, and she can’t stop thinking about the two men holding her at gunpoint.
