Car theft suspect tried to run from the police and got stopped by a group of snow plows
It’s not uncommon for police officers to apprehend car theft suspects. After all, this is one of the most widespread crimes in the country. However, one recent story finds an officer pursuing a suspect who tried to evade a traffic stop only for a group of snow plows to aid in catching him.
Here’s what happened.
This car theft suspect got caught in the most unconventional way
According to KDVR, a police officer was recently patrolling in Denver and saw a Hyundai drive-by with a broken taillight. Of course, this is enough to warrant a traffic stop. However, after seeing the license plate information, the officer realized there was an active report of car theft on the vehicle. That’s not all, as the vehicle was also involved in recent robberies. He then got behind the driver with the lights and siren on, but they refused to pull over.
In order to make the traffic stop, the officer received help from other police agencies. In fact, there were at least three neighboring agencies on the scene, and they tried using stop sticks on the car theft suspect. However, the man behind the wheel avoided these and ended up crashing into a squad car. It looked like the diver would get away. This is when a group of snow plows from the Colorado Department of Transportation, which were already in the area, slowed down and blocked the driver.
Following this forced traffic stop, police arrested Brendan Fooks, 27. Notably, he had two active warrants at the time of his arrest, one for trespassing and the other for shoplifting. He also admitted to being in the area looking for places to rob and to being under the influence of drugs. The police are charging him with aggregated car theft, fleeing and eluding, DUI, and more.
