5 people have charges after breaking into a Jeep dealership in Troy, Michigan
Car showrooms around the country are on edge due to the rise of car theft. Now, several people are facing charges after attempting this crime at a Jeep dealership in Michigan. This also means that not only are the thieves facing charges, but they also failed to obtain the vehicle they were seeking.
This failed car theft attempt will have lasting consequences for all who were involved
According to Click On Detroit, police received a call about a break-in and attempted car theft at Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on April 22 at around 4:30 a.m. The report states that four people at the dealership went into the service bay to steal a vehicle. Once on the scene, the officers found them trying to take a Jeep Grand Wagoneer using the roll-up doors.
The car theft suspects extended beyond the four people in the dealership. This is the case as the police spotted two vehicles driving around the area. One was a Saab, and the other was a Chrysler 300. They believe the people in the cars were acting as lookouts. The officers later found the Saab at an apartment near the dealership and arrested the suspect. They were charged for driving with a suspended license. The Chrysler was also later found.
Surveillance footage also helped identify the four car theft suspects who entered the dealership. As a result, six arrests were made, and five of them face charges. The charges include unlawful driving away of an automobile, breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit larceny over $20,000, and two counts of malicious destruction of property. They have a probable cause hearing scheduled for May 6.
