Florida based felon recently stole his friend’s truck only to be arrested for guns and drugs
Car theft is a significant problem in the U.S. and around the world. This is the case for several reasons, with the value vehicles hold being the most notable. Recently, one Florida man’s truck went missing, and when police did a traffic stop on the vehicle, they also found it filled with illegal items and being driven by a felon.
Car theft is bad, but being found with drugs during a traffic stop in a stolen car is even worse
According to WFLA, a truck owner reached out to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office to report that he had been a victim of car theft. Notably, he believed his friend, Marsalis Streeter, to be the culprit. This happened on November 20, and after some time had passed, the police officers were able to get the vehicle’s location from ONSTAR.
Naturally, the police officers were able to track down the car theft victim’s truck. They then forced a traffic stop by blocking the road so the driver would comply. After approaching the stolen truck, they determined that it was, in fact, the truck owner’s friend who had stolen it. They detained the man and then proceeded to search the vehicle.
Of course, things got worse for the car theft perpetrator. During the search, the police officers on the scene found multiple guns, including two AR-style rifles, a 9 mm pistol, ammo, extra magazines, and a ballistic vest. There was also what appeared to be marijuana. As mentioned, Marsalis is a felon, which means he can’t own guns. Now, he’s facing several charges. They include:
- Grand theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of a bulletproof vest while committing an offense
- Felon in possession of a firearm and possession of cannabis (more than 20 grams)
