Car theft is a massive problem for people all over the world. However, the issue doesn’t only impact people who are missing vehicles. Instead, it’s also a public safety issue. This is shown by a recent story out of Boston involving teenagers sealing a BMW and then crashing, causing multiple car wrecks after evading a traffic stop. Things were so bad that they shut down the interstate.

Not only did they commit car theft, but they caused multiple car wrecks

According to NBC Boston, police officers in the Milton, Massachusetts, area got word of a car theft involving a BMW. They later spotted the vehicle, and a trooper tried to make a traffic stop. However, the 15-year-old behind the wheel refused to pull over and drove into I-93 North. This caused a police chase involving the stolen BMW and the two underage kids.

Time passed, and the car theft suspect continued refusing the traffic stop. Sadly, things took a turn when the vehicle crashed into a pickup truck on the highway. This caused a chain reaction as the truck crashed into a squad car, sending it into a guardrail. Luckily, no one was injured by the car wrecks the teenagers caused. However, officials shut down the interstate and diverted traffic until they could clear the scene.

Naturally, the car theft suspects are not being identified due to their age. However, they face charges, including delinquency, theft, and negligent driving without a license. It’s unclear why the teenagers stole the BMW or if they knew the owner.
