Police officers in Sandy Springs, Georgia, had a very unique experience on Christmas Eve in 2025. While attempting to locate a suspect, they were involved in a chase. That’s not the unusual part. What wasn’t normal about this particular police chase was that it involved golf carts.

According to the Sandy Springs Police Department, officers responded to a local golf course just outside of Atlanta to locate a wanted suspect from a prior incident. They found him. Then the suspect saw them and fled on a golf cart. And just like that, the chase was on.

In a bodycam video shared to Facebook by the Sandy Springs Police Department, an officer is seen walking into the shed containing the golf course’s carts. Upon entering the building, the suspect can be seen hopping onto the golf cart and burning rubber out of the shed.

After a little jog to see where the suspect went, a golf course employee directs the officer to a golf cart that he can use to follow the suspect. Which he does.

After a brief chase on the golf course, the officer eventually catches up to the suspect, who surrenders with his hands up.

“Reminder: Golf carts are not a getaway vehicle,” the Sand Springs Police Department added in its post.

Reactions to the slow-speed police chase on golf carts led to many jokes on social media

Naturally, such a bizarre police chase video lent itself to numerous funny comments on social media.

“This would have been so much cooler if the 2nd cop was hollering ‘Wee-Woo…Wee-Woo’ as they were chasing him!” one viewer joked.

“Reno 911 Sandy Springs,” another person commented, while another asked, tongue-in-cheek, “Did they pay the cart fee?”

“A few hundred yards from SSPD HQ. Escaping on the most tree-less golf course in Georgia in a cart,” another viewer wrote. “Heading towards a dead end geographically, with a paved road paralleling the escape route. What could possibly go wrong?”

“I was ready for the pit maneuver,” someone else pointed out, while another suggested, “Rockstar Games, there’s still time to put this in GTA 6.”
