Typically when it comes to monster trucks like the Ford F-150 Raptor R, being bigger is better. Biggers trucks can accommodate larger engines and extra power, which is always exciting. However, the massive 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is a little lighter, providing advantages.

Yes, the 2023 Ford Raptor R is faster than the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX. According to Ford Authority, both trucks met at the track to settle the debate. The Ford Raptor R accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.7 seconds.

The Ram 1500 TRX was a little slower and reached 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. The Raptor R also brags about its 12.1-second quarter mile time at 118 mph. The Ram 1500 TRX may have lost because it’s 740 lbs heavier.

The Ford Raptor R weighs in at 5,950 lbs, which is only 210 lbs heavier than the regular F-150 Raptor. The Ram TRX weighs about 6,690 lbs.

But technically, the Ram 1500 TRX has more power. The 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine cranks out 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. The Raptor R has a 5.2-liter V8 engine with 700 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque.

How much can the Ford Raptor R tow?

When properly equipped, the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R can tow up to 8,400 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,400 lbs. The regular F-150 can tow up to 14,000 lbs and can carry a payload of up to 3,326 lbs. So, upgrading to monster power limits towing abilities.

The 2023 Ram 1500 TRX can tow up to 8,100 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,360 lbs. It falls a little behind the Raptor R again. Also, the regular Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,335 lbs.

If you can afford the Raptor R, then you probably don’t mind the cost of fuel. Anyways, the F-150 Raptor R gets an EPA-estimated 10 mpg in the city and up to 15 mpg on the highway. It gets about 12 mpg combined.

The Ram 1500 TRX gets an EPA-estimated 10 mpg in the city and up to 14 mpg on the highway. It also gets about 12 mpg combined. This is a small difference, but it still works in favor of the Raptor R.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in a set of 37-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 beadlock-capable tires. The Ram 1500 TRX features 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch all-terrain tires.

Plus, the Raptor R features a 13.1-inch ground clearance, while the Ram 1500 TRX has an 11.8-inch ground clearance.

The Ford Raptor R also has high-output gas-pressurized Fox Racing Shox with electronically controlled continuously variable dampening. The rear suspension setup features a five-link rear coil with a Panhard rod.

Because the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is lighter and engineered a bit differently, it’s faster, can tow more, gets a better fuel economy, and is more comfortable than the Ram 1500 TRX. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel to see how it compares.
