If you want to avoid rising gas prices, then watch out for the Ford F-150 Raptor R. It’s one thirsty beast. We guess you could say that with great power comes great fuel consumption. However, that may not be a surprise with the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R

Does the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R have a good fuel economy?

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R has an OK fuel economy for a super truck. It gets an EPA-estimated 10 mpg in the city, 15 mph on the highway, and about 12 mpg combined. It takes a lot of gas to keep this monster truck moving.

According to Auto Blog, the standard 37-inch tires could have a significant impact on its consumption.

The regular Ford Raptor gets an EPA-estimated 15 mpg in the city and up to 18 mpg on the highway. But once you upgrade to the optional 37-inch tire package, these ratings drop to 15 and 16 mpg.

The 2023 Ram 1500 TRX gets an EPA-estimated 10 mpg in the city and up to 14 mpg on the highway, so the Raptor R has a minimal fuel advantage. Also, the TRX has standard 35-inch tires.

How much power does the F-150 Raptor R have?

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R has a 5.2-liver supercharged V8 engine that cranks out 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.2 seconds. It has a top speed of 120 mph.

Its speed is partially attributed to its light weight of 5,950 lbs. The fortified 10-speed automatic is paired with a heavy-duty turbine damper and a robust four-pin output assembly.

This setup ensures the automatic shifting out of every Ford truck with a 10-speed transmission. It also provides a smooth acceleration and ride.

Plus, the torque is transmitted through an aluminum driveshaft with a larger diameter. The front axle has a strengthened spider-gear carrier with a structurally reinforced front cover.

The front springs are a little stiffer to account for the extra weight of the V8 engine. Also, the jounce bumpers are reinforced, the Fox shocks are stronger, the trailer hitch is enhanced, and the truck features a new cross member.

When properly equipped, the Ford F-150 Raptor R can tow up to 8,700 lb and carry a payload of up to 1,400 lbs.

How much does the Raptor R cost?

The 2023 Ford Raptor R price starts at $109,145, which is a little shocking. The 2023 Ram 1500 TRX begins at about $81,055. However, if you can afford either option, then gas prices probably don’t matter much.

Still, it’s pretty wild that the TRX comes in at $28,090 cheaper before the destination fees and dealership markups come into play.

But on a positive note, Ford F-150 Raptor R production has begun! You could get your order soon, and we will see more monster trucks on the road. Also, you can still order this thirsty monster.

Production of the Ford F-150 Raptor R will probably be limited, but we aren’t sure how many models are available. What we do know is that it’s fast, comfortable, and guzzles gas.
