Despite the recently announced tariffs, several people are in the market for the best SUVs to buy. However, as auto mechanics know, some of the top SUVs in terms of sales are also among the worst for reliability. Recently, one well-known TikTok user took to the platform to expose five of what he considers to be the worst options drivers can spend their money on. Naturally, the internet is divided over his take. And yes, Jeep vehicles have a presence on this list.

Auto mechanics hate Land Rover as a brand

Recently, a TikToker named Zach Trahan took to the platform to highlight five of the worst SUVs. Notably, many auto mechanics would agree with his list. He first mentions Land Rover as a brand and not simply one of its vehicles. According to him, “These quite possibly might be the worst vehicles of all time.” Zach then notes the sheer number of issues people with Land Rover vehicles experience. He also says they often need “major repairs” at only 60k miles. 

The Jeep Compass is not one of the best SUVs to buy

The next SUV Zach considers one of the worst is the Jeep Compass. Although beloved, many Jeep vehicles struggle with reliability, but options like the Compass seem much less capable. He calls this an “absolutely terrible vehicle” and says he’d rather walk on foot than drive one. Some of the issues include trouble starting the engine, water leaks, transmission problems, overheating, and loss of acceleration. Because of this, many auto mechanics advise against the Compass.

The GMC Acadia is not among the top SUVs according to auto mechanics

Another vehicle auto mechanics tend not to like is the GMC Acadia. Immediately, Zach lists malfunctions such as widespread blown engines and timing chain issues. However, he also highlights the less-than-stellar EcoTec engines in the newer models of the Acadia. He then says to avoid these vehicles at all costs.

‘New body-style’ Jeep Grand Cherokee

The fourth SUV on Zach’s list is the new body-style Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to him, “Please, I am warning you, do not buy these.” He then highlights their high costs and lack of reliability. As mentioned, Jeep vehicles sometimes struggle in this area, but many buyers still stand by them. However, auto mechanics see them often. 

The Buick Encore

Some auto mechanics like Buick, while others find them problematic. Regarding Zach, he says they are hideous vehicles that also have severe reliability issues. Again, he mentions the EcoTec engine, which powers some of the Buick Encore units. Still, many owners would swear by this SUV or some of the others on Zach’s list.
