There’s more to owning a vehicle than driving it and getting oil changes on schedule. Instead, a car needs a great deal of maintenance that many drivers neglect. One of them is finding auto mechanics to do the all-important brake flush. Recently, one mechanic with almost a million followers highlighted the need for the service and revealed how often it’s needed.

Auto mechanics know the importance of doing a brake flush on a regular basis

Recently, one of the auto mechanics from Royalty Auto Service took to their popular TikTok page to discuss the importance of brake flushes. Notably, he goes over how often vehicles need this service in order to maintain the safety of their brakes. He begins by saying, “This should not be a controversial one. You should be doing a brake flush about once every two years.”

Like many auto mechanics, this one says that his shop typically does them every 30,000 miles. So, why does having the brake fluid flushed matter? He says it keeps the fluid in a “dryer state,” as moisture is always pulled into it. This mechanic also says that the climate in which a person lives doesn’t matter because moisture will always get into the fluid.

The video continues, and the mechanic says the brake fluid’s boiling point is important. Moisture lowers this, which is why brake flushes are needed periodically. According to the video, moisture can drop the boiling point by about 150 degrees. In some instances, drivers could have a “spongy” brake pedal, which is not safe in emergency situations. Additionally, flushes can also save the calipers.
