Amazon drivers deliver over 17 million orders per day across the US. That’s why an Amazon van is an increasingly regular sight in just about every neighborhood in America. As such, delivery drivers get hurt from time to time. It’s just the nature of the beast.

But this? This one was entirely avoidable. A TikTok video captured a delivery worker leaving his van, making a delivery, attempting to jump off the homeowner’s doorstep, and knocking himself out in the process. But despite a few stumbles and some serious embarrassment, he carried on with his route.

This Amazon driver turned what would have been a slick jump into an embarrassing knockout

I get it. It’s repetitive. Drive the van, stop the van, make the delivery, take the picture, repeat. Monotony, thy name is Amazon driver. Unfortunately, though, this driver tried to spice things up.

A residential camera video captured the employee in Amazon blue as he dropped off a flat parcel. He then turned around and prepared to descend the steps and make his way back to the van

But rather than walking down the steps, he quickly turns and jumps forward. His face connects with a low, overhanging portion of the home and a gutter. Bong– the next moment, he’s flat on his back and out cold.

“Hello? You okay?” Viewers can hear the homeowner say. Still, not much of a response from the delivery driver. It was quite the hit.

After some time passes, he stirs. A woman approaches and proceeds to call an ambulance. Surprisingly, the driver gets up, verifies the package, and insists on returning to his deliveries.

“Be careful, man,” the unseen homeowner says. “You’re stumbling a little bit.” He was right, too. The driver was teetering back and forth as he spoke to the concerned woman. Still, according to the video, he left the premises and continued along his route.

Commenters were less than understanding

Needless to say, the TikTok video’s viewers were less than sympathetic. “‘You okay?’ No, he’s not, he’s almost dead,” one viewer commented. “Bro is not getting workers’ compensation,” another responded.

The slings and arrows continued. “Amazon drivers are something else,” one viewer replied.

“They’re gonna play this video at the next safety meeting,” another TikTok user said. That wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Not the best idea to carry on with deliveries

In all seriousness, it’s not tough or even smart to continue with deliveries after something like that. For starters, the driver may be concussed, a condition that impairs cognitive function. It’s simply not safe to drive with a concussion.

What’s more, if the driver had a concussion, failure to get prompt medical attention could lead to other issues, like memory problems, difficulty concentrating, and mood swings. Fortunately for the homeowner, the camera captured the event, almost certainly eliminating the likelihood of a successful lawsuit.
