There are plenty of stereotypes about Subaru owners going around. Like the all-wheel drive system makes them feel invincible, or they’re popular among lesbians. However, one Subaru SUV typecast proves to be true, which is great for the human’s best friend.

The Subaru SUV stereotype about dogs is true

When it comes to Subaru SUV owners, one thing proves to be true, and it’s great for pups. You may associate the Japanese automaker with building great options for dogs, and drivers agree.

According to Motor 1, 58% of owners shared that they travel with their dogs in their cars. About 30% of owners travel with cars, and 4% drive around with fish. Another 3% shared that they travel with chicken, and 2% travel with birds.

This data helps the automaker cater to its fans by marketing directly to them, with the ‘Dog Tested. Dog Approved’ catchphrase.

Also, you may have noticed a few commercials that show the SUVs being used by the ‘Barkley family’. The family of golden retrievers gets up to humorous traveling situations.

Plus, the Wilderness trim levels have a dog-based cargo diagram etched into the side of the cargo area. It uses outlines of dogs to show you how much space is available for pups. From smaller dogs to 90lb ones, you’ll be able to see how many will fit.

But of course, Americans love using anything for measurements to avoid the metric system. Just remember to keep your dog safe during road trips.

Having enough space for them to lay down is ideal. Plus, the use of crash-tested restraints such as harnesses and secured crates prevents injuries and distractions.
