Good news, the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid has returned after being discontinued in 2023. However, is the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid making the same old mistake by being too expensive again? Let’s look at the numbers.

How much does the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid cost?

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid starts with an MSRP of $33,995. Adding the $1,420 destination fee increases the starting cost to $35,415. Remember to leave room for dealership markups, taxes, and fees.

The 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid starts at $33,995 with the destination fee included. So, it costs less despite having a lot of extra space. Pricing for the refreshed 2026 RAV4 Hybrid hasn’t been released yet.

According to Subaru, the regular gas-powered Crosstrek starts at $28,415. It costs about $7,000 to upgrade to the hybrid engine.

With the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, you get 180 hp. The hybrid engine adds two electric motors and a battery to generate 194 hp.

While the gas model provides an EPA-estimated 27 mpg in the city and up to 29 mpg on the highway. The hybrid is expected to get about 35 to 40 mpg with a 621-mile range.

Also, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 41 mpg in the city and up to 38 mpg on the highway with a 594-mile range.

But the Crosstrek Hybrid does include enticing standard features such as the 11.6-inch infotainment screen, 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with dark grey machine finish, gray StarTex upholstery with orange accent stitching, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
