The eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette thinks it’s a bit of a fighter jet. Beyond the sharp, almost stealth aircraft-esque exterior angles, the interior is driver-centric, orienting just about everything toward the pilot. Now, however, the Corvette has lost one of its more isolating interior features.

You might notice the absence of one isolating interior feature in the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette

Last year, I had the opportunity to drive the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray and Z06 on the track at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. My darling wife and better half settled into the interior next to me for a quick cruise around the NCM Motorsports Park’s skid pad before I headed out onto the track. Then she noticed something.

She immediately noted the banked wall of buttons clearly separating driver and passenger. Now, her reservations regarded the isolating nature of the driver-centric feature. It was a literal wall of controls between the Corvette’s two occupants.

From a driver’s standpoint, while usable, the feature was a bit unsightly—no more. Chevrolet returned to the drawing board and rid the Corvette of its imposing control surface for 2026. And it’s not just the loss of the banked button wall, either. The Corvette gets a reimagined interior, complete with a new look and fully exposed cup holders.

The new Chevrolet Corvette doesn’t lose all of its driver focus, though. Three screens orient toward the pilot. On the left, a 6.6-inch touchscreen. In front of the driver, a 14-inch digital gauge cluster displays the typical driving information. A 12.7-inch touchscreen rides in the center, though it’s less than inviting for a passenger.

In the place of the solid dividing wall, the Corvette gets a much less interior-dominating grab handle. And if you’re the sort to put the eighth-generation Plastic Fantastic through its cornering paces, your passenger might be pleased with the handle.
