Once the honeymoon phase wears off with a truck, you might start to notice annoying features. They become increasingly frustrating as your relationship grows. One Nissan Frontier owner is here to warn you about two annoying problems before you sign the paperwork.

Two annoying Nissan Frontier problems

TikTok user and Nissan Frontier owner @outoffuel is working through new emotions with his truck. He was asked if he wished he had gotten a Toyota Tacoma instead.

But he said no and went on to explain his frustrations about the Frontier. He’s bothered by its turning radius and the gas.

Sure, he hasn’t driven a truck in a long time. He’s used to sports cars like the Mazda Miata and the Chevrolet Corvette. They can turn into the same lane. He drives the truck in a circle to demonstrate the insane turning radius.

Then he explains that he feels like he’s constantly filling the truck with gas. He ‘just’ filled it up but only has 330 miles of range left. This man would be happy with 500 miles of range.

I’ve reached out to outoffuel to see if he shares common complaints that other owners have and to see if there’s anything that he loves about his Frontier.

Does the Nissan Frontier have a wide turning radius?

Yes, the Nissan Frontier has a wide turning radius. It’s something I’ve noticed while reviewing a few different trim levels. It has a turning radius of 42.4 feet.

The Toyota Tacoma doesn’t feel much tighter with a turning radius of 42.2 feet. Then the Ford Ranger comes in at 42.4, and the Chevrolet Colorado has a 41.3-foot turning radius. Based on driving all the mid-size trucks, the Colorado is easiest to park and maneuver in tight areas.

How many MPG does the Frontier get?

The Nissan Frontier gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and up to 24 mpg on the highway. It has a range of about 504 miles on a single tank of gas.

With the Toyota Tacoma Hybrid, you get an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and up to 24 mpg on the highway. So, the Frontier does just as well as a hybrid truck, on the highway at least.

Common Frontier complaints

Some other Nissan Frontier owners and commenters have a few different annoying problems to complain about. For example, the steering is extremely heavy.

Some drivers complain about the tight rear seat. However, it’s on par with the Ford Ranger and offers more space than the Tacoma. The Jeep Gladiator and Honda Ridgeline have the most passenger space.

Also, the Frontier feels a bit dated compared to rivals. The touchscreen could benefit from improved camera resolution and layout. Some people might like the basic tech, though.
