Woman wants her Jeep but her ex-husband used it during robberies
A Connecticut woman married the wrong man and finally got a divorce. But things are pretty messy. The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is being held by police as evidence.
It turns out, that her ex-husband, who was formally a day shift police officer, was using the Jeep to commit robberies at night.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Patrick Hemingway, allegedly committed over 50 break-ins in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Each incident occurred late at night.
According to CT Insider, Patrick was arrested in September, 2023. It was only a few months after the couple got married. But it’s been roughly 18 months, and the victim still doesn’t have her Jeep back.
It’s not like she’s only been waiting for six months to a year. Plus, all the evidence investigators needed was extracted from the SUV.
However, Hemingway hasn’t been convicted for every alleged burglary yet. He has ongoing cases in other courthouses. Authorities are still getting warrants in some cases.
Unfortunately, the SUV is a key piece of evidence. It was caught on surveillance cameras during break-ins. Plus, Hemingway’s phone links its location to the scene of multiple incidents. Getting the Jeep Grand Cherokee back will allow the victim to finally move on after her fraudulent marriage.
