It’s wintertime. That means festive holiday celebrations, warm beverages, and yes, slushy, icy road conditions. As such, many drivers reach for the keys to their all-wheel drive (AWD) or four-wheel drive trucks to deliver them safely. Sometimes, however, power to all four wheels isn’t enough to overcome the winter powder. And one Tesla Cybertruck learned that much the hard way.

A silly social media post captured a high-dollar Tesla Cybertruck spinning all four wheels in the snow and not getting anywhere

The Tesla Cybertruck is likely the most controversial presence in the modern automotive market, save perhaps for Jaguar’s rebrand. Its wild, angular proportions and DeLorean-esque stainless steel aesthetic are, well, challenging for many vehicle buyers. Still, the Cybertruck is unabashedly disruptive in the electric vehicle market.

What’s more, with dual-motor AWD grip and 600 horsepower on tap, the Tesla Cybertruck is quick enough to outrun many taut sports car nameplates to 60 mph. The base Cybertruck will dispatch a sprint to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, whereas the tri-motor Cyberbeast will make the run in 2.6 seconds. That’s as fast as a C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. However, none of those bragging rights were enough to extricate the Cybertruck from packed snow.

In a social media video, a Tesla Cybertruck driver spins the truck’s wheels near a storefront on a snowy street. However, despite continuous attempts, the driver can’t seem to get any grip. The driver attempts to steer left and right to gain purchase, but the truck refuses to budge. A closer look at the near-stationary truck reveals slick, snow-packed tires. Hardly the dedicated snow tires or tire chains you’d want in the situation.

One social media user humorously suggested that the EV pickup truck’s weight puts it at a serious disadvantage. “Things that weigh that much usually have tug boats to guide it out of the loading docks. Unfair to make the Cybertruck pull out on its own,” they commented. Other fans suggested that their comparably workaday rides fare much better in the snow. “My 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier handles snow better than that, I just went plowing through 12cm the other day,” a viewer commented.
