Watch this Tesla Cybertruck camera catch a Colorado vandal carving a swastika into its body panels
The series of anti-Elon Musk acts of defiance continues. In one of the most recent examples, a Tesla Cybertruck’s onboard cameras captured a vandal as they dug a swastika into the driver’s side of the massive truck. Still, even with camera coverage and broad daylight, the destructive protest was over in less than 30 seconds.
A camera on a Tesla Cybertruck captured a masked person carving a swastika into the side of the EV
The Tesla Cybertruck has an array of cameras including front, rear, and side cameras. The brand says the cameras “actively monitor the surrounding area,” including catching the occasional vandal as they dig a hateful symbol into the truck’s wide, flat paneling.
A popular social media video shows a young pedestrian as they approached the driver-side of a stationary Tesla Cybertruck in Lakewood, Colorado. The person was wearing a black, surgical-style face mask and baggy green pants with keys in hand. Brazenly, the person uses their keys to gouge a swastika into the side paneling of the Tesla truck, perhaps unaware that the over-the-wheel camera captured the vandalism.
While the truck has cameras that cover surrounding areas, it isn’t enough to stop a vandal in the act. The person was scratching the Tesla Cybertruck’s stainless steel paneling for about 26 seconds. Not exactly a lengthy crime. Still, the risky act of defiance wasn’t under the cover of inky black darkness, but rather in broad daylight.
This isn’t an isolated incident
Needless to say, anti-Musk sentiment is at an all-time high and Tesla owners are feeling it. This isn’t the first time a vandal has scratched a swastika into the side of a Tesla. It’s not even the only time an angry protester has targeted a Tesla Cybertruck with the former Nazi symbol.
On Tuesday, a New York Cybertruck owner was horrified to discover his EV defaced with the symbol, per Yahoo! News. Tragically, the owner and the vandal were of the Jewish faith, adding another problematic level to the act. In this case, however, police arrested the vandal when he attempted to recover his car from the crime scene.
