Fair warning, this story comes with a video that’s pretty difficult to watch. A New York City sanitation worker was doing his job when an SUV pinned him against a garbage truck. The worker and SUV driver both went to the hospital.
NYC sanitation worker gets crushed against a garbage truck by SUV
32-year-old Ahmad Ladson was doing his job as a New York City sanitation worker when his shift ended in disaster.
He was at the rear of a garbage truck on Colgate Avenue near Watson Avenue around 8 AM in the morning, when he was suddenly hit by a Toyota Highlander SUV. The SUV hit Ladson from behind and pinned him against the sanitation truck.
Ladson wailed in pain as he was caught between the vehicles and then rolled on the ground, beside his work truck. The unsettling video shows him unable to get up.
The driver of the Toyota SUV jumped out to help him along with the aid of a fellow sanitation worker. The Toyota driver has been identified as a 40-year-old woman. Other pedestrians were caught in the video, simply walking by and ignoring the scene.
Police officers shared that Ladson suffers compound fractures in both of his legs. He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
According to the NY Post, the female driver who stayed on the scene was taken to the same hospital due to a panic attack.
The Toyota driver has been cooperating with authorities. She currently isn’t facing any charges and her information is being withheld pending the ongoing investigation.
The Department of Sanitation shared that Sanitation workers have a dangerous job as the horrifying video of this collision with the garbage truck shows.
