Watch this pickup truck get swept away by flooding after honking at another driver
Flooding is no joke. It can destroy homes, cripple infrastructure, and close roads. Mind you, the road closures are important for safety. It’s a lesson motorists learn all too often like this Chevrolet pickup truck driver floating in surprisingly deep flood waters after trying to bully another car to drive through them.
A Chevrolet pickup truck honked at another driver to get out of the way, just to get stopped by serious flooding
A social media video shows a section of road covered by flooding and an understandably hesitant motorist. The driver is taking a video of a red Chevrolet C/K1500 pickup truck. Based on the overlaid text in the video, the driver was irritated by the truck’s insistence that they drive across the flood waters. The Chevrolet driver was honking for the first motorist to attempt to cross the waters under the 12-foot overpass.
Now, depending on the “C” or “K” designation, the pickup truck could be a two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive application. However, 4×4 doesn’t mean your pickup truck doubles as an amphibious vehicle. That’s just wishful thinking. As expected, the deceptively deep flooding stopped the decades-old pickup truck in its tracks.
“Oh, he’s floating, buddy,” the driver said as they watched the red pickup truck rise off its tires and drift to the right. “I don’t know why the hell he tried.” Frankly, the internet wasn’t any kinder. “Beep the horn and tell him he can’t park there,” one cheeky commenter said in response to the video. Another viewer simply dropped a GIF of Will Ferrell in “Wedding Crashers” yelling “What an idiot!” There’s a lot of love there.
Moments later, the police arrived on the scene. The pickup truck driver appeared to be standing alongside the half-submerged vehicle. Unfortunately for the pickup truck driver, such a lapse in judgment could cost him more than repairing or replacing his flooded truck. Police may issue fines and other penalties for stranded motorists who ignore posted flood warnings or road closures.
