Yee haw, it’s that time of year when some drivers avoid thunderstorms and others chase them. One storm chaser in Alabama survived as his custom truck took a direct hit. The Ford F-350 went airborne and started spinning!

Alabama storm chasers’ truck takes a direct hit from a tornado

This situation seems like it’s straight out of a Twisters movie. However, Glen Powell and his Ram 2500 never interacted with real tornados like this Alabama storm chaser!

Reed Timmer is a storm chaser who’s currently spending the storm season with a truck called Dominator 3. It’s a modified Ford F-350 that’s engineered to withstand the harsh conditions of severe weather events, like tornados.

Timmer was in Birmingham after a multi-day severe weather outbreak that caused widespread destruction across Missouri, Kentucky, and Virginia. He was chasing storms during the last day of impacts from this system.

As severe weather warnings and sirens blared, Trimmer got his truck in the direct path of a twister. You can see the moment of impact as the Ford F-350 is consumed by winds and debris.

It briefly went airborne as Trimmer placed it in park. It spun about 460 degrees before anchoring itself to the ground. The trucks in the Twisters film could also do that.

According to MSN, authorities warned residents to seek shelter, warning them that mobile homes, homes, and businesses could be destroyed.

Please do not do this at home, as it’s extremely dangerous. The Ford F-350 can weigh up to 8,320 lbs while tornados beginning at EF2 can easily toss cars. Some tornados can lift 30,000 lbs.
