Someone who commissions a million-dollar yacht likely worries about things like countertops and closet space. But they don’t likely worry about their new luxury super boat sinking mere minutes after hitting the water for the first time.

Unfortunately for one 85-foot yacht in Turkey, that’s exactly what happened. The vessel slid into the surf, capsized, and sank.

The ‘Dolce Vento,’ a $1 million yacht, sank almost immediately after launching off the coast of Turkey

Launching an 85-foot yacht is something of an event. For the “Dolce Vento,” a $1 million luxury vessel, it involved tracks and a large sliding platform. At least, it should have been as easy as that.

But the Black Sea had other plans for the Dolce Vento. A video shows a crew sliding the vessel off the beach and into the waters near Turkey’s Black Sea port city of Zonguldak.

At first, things seem to be going as planned. However, a moment later, the Dolce Vento started listing to one side. Authorities cite “stability issues” for the yacht’s wild sinking fiasco.

And a glance at the sinking ship definitely supports that claim. Even without a compromised hull, the Dolce Vento rolled to port, effectively capsizing. The video shows crew members climbing around on the vessel as it leaned over into the water. Fortunately, all four crew members bailed and swam to safety.

The internet was less than kind

As expected, social media goers were not exactly understanding after watching the opulent vessel sink moments after launch. “I checked the order, and they ordered a submarine. All good,” one cheeky Instagram commenter replied.

“If that’s a million-dollar yacht, then that was ABSOLUTELY purchased on Alibaba,” another joked. And this commenter wasn’t alone; other viewers jested that the large boat was a Temu purchase.
