City streets. They’re a non-stop breeding ground for some, well, interesting driving decisions. But you have to wonder what was going through this Seattle motorist’s mind when he offered firefighters whippets while driving. If that wasn’t enough, the wild child slammed his Honda Accord into the Seattle Fire Department ladder truck multiple times after the first responders declined the offer of drugs.

A video captures the moment a Seattle driver offered firefighters whippets and struck a ladder truck repeatedly

A video opens on a Seattle Fire Department ladder truck sitting in the left lane of traffic on Second Avenue. The truck is creeping forward when a late-model silver Honda Accord inches into the lane ahead of the truck, blocking its path.

The driver then reportedly offered the firefighters aboard the large fire apparatus whippets, or inhalant drugs using nitrous oxide to cause intoxication. Needless to say, the Honda driver didn’t take the polite declination well.

Moments later, the video shows the Accord slamming into the fire truck, pulling ahead of it, and reversing into it. This happened multiple times before the driver pulled away. No firefighters were injured in the bizarre exchange.

He didn’t stop there

The whippet-powered driver continued his series of bad decisions by heading north. He reportedly drove up Aurora Avenue, ultimately blocking an intersection. Troublingly, Seattle police say he also attempted to ram other cars and even pedestrians.

According to KING 5 News, the driver then refused to stop for police. Just like that, police were engaged in a high-speed chase with the silver Accord.

But here’s the kicker: the suspect got away. As of this writing, police reportedly called off the pursuit after the dangerous motorist hit speeds of 85 mph. That might sound strange, but it’s a common tactic for police to discontinue ground pursuits in the interest of public safety.
