[Video] Police officer loses it at BMW driver, hits car with a radar gun
You see some crazy stuff on the internet these days. Crazy crashes, nail-biting near-misses, and heinous cases of road rage are the norm. But you don’t often see a police officer standing in the road next to his motorcycle, pitching what looks like a radar detector at a passing car after it refuses to stop.
A video captured an Aussie police officer throwing what appears to be a radar gun at a non-compliant BMW driver
Have you ever been pulled over by a motorcycle cop? The police officer will often zoom in behind you and pull you over. Too simple. Sometimes, however, they’ll motion from the side of the road for you to pull over. But no one told the BMW driver in this video that failing to do so might seriously anger a motorcycle cop.
The video shows a police officer from Queensland, Australia, standing in the middle of the road. He appears to be holding a radar gun and assessing passing motorists. A radar gun, also known as a “speed gun,” uses Doppler radar to measure the speed of a vehicle. Police officers often use them to confirm that a driver is speeding and issue tickets. They don’t, however, use them as projectiles.
The motorcycle officer is dressed in high-visibility gear and a white helmet. There was no missing this guy. He gestured at an approaching BMW 3 Series sedan to pull over to the left-hand shoulder of the road. But rather than complying, the 3 Series drives around the police officer. Enraged, he throws the device at the black sedan, smashing the object to bits. Not exactly teeming with professionalism.
A Queensland police commissioner echoed the point that it wasn’t the most mature thing. But he also acknowledged that the police of the Northern Australian state are under immense pressure. “Do I expect more professional behavior than what I saw yesterday? Yes, I do,” the commissioner said.
“But you know, we get frustrated. That officer works hard on the road every single day trying to keep Queenslanders safe,” he said. “The police are out there every single day dealing with just reckless, stupid behavior on our roads.” Check out the video for yourself below!
