A violent, early-morning crash sent a rising basketball star to the hospital. The player, USC recruit Alijah Arenas, was driving a Tesla Cybertruck when he reportedly lost control, causing the crash. While his condition was stable as of this morning, hospital personnel induced a coma.

Alijah Arenas isn’t just a basketball star with a road map to success; the game is in his blood. Arenas is the son of Gilbert Arenas, a three-time NBA All-Star. However, Arenas’s plans for more sports stardom are on hold after a nasty crash in a Tesla Cybertruck.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Chatsworth High School star and USC recruit was driving his Tesla Cybertruck in Reseda, California, early this morning. He lost control of the Cybertruck, prompting a violent crash with a fire hydrant and a tree. Fortunately, the young athlete wasn’t stuck in the Cybertruck for long.

An officer with the LAPD reported that first responders pulled Arenas from the wreckage and transported him to a nearby hospital. Typically, a wreck at 4:56 a.m. would raise a few eyebrows. However, a source with information about the wreck told The Times that alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the Cybertruck crash. Although his condition was “stable,” medical personnel reportedly placed Arenas into a coma to protect him from other medical concerns.

This isn’t the first time a destructive Tesla Cybertruck crash made the news, though. Late last year, a 19-year-old Cybertruck driver crashed into a tree and a wall. The impact caused the Cybertruck to ignite. Tragically, the driver and three passengers were in the EV at the time. The young driver and two of the three passengers died in the wreck. Granted, the driver was drunk and high at the time, but a bystander was only able to rescue one passenger from the searing heat.
