You know what’s important for an Uber driving career? Having your own reliable car to pick up passengers in. One Florida man, an Uber driver, apparently wanted to improve his rating by using a better vehicle, but he got caught with a stolen SUV.

Florida Uber driver gets caught with a stolen SUV

Florida police officers were patrolling on Northwest 27th Avenue when they noticed a suspecious Chevrolet SUV. It had a license plate that matched a vehicle reported stolen.

After confirming that the SUV was stolen, the officer followed the vehicle until another trooper arrived in the area to provide assistance.

They initiated a traffic stop, and the driver immediately pulled over by the westbound entrance ramp to the Palmetto Expressway. The driver or suspect was identified as 44-year-old Jose Antonio Friol.

According to NBC Miami, he was identified through his driver’s license and was listed as a suspect by the Hialeah police.

He was quickly taken into custody and charged with grand theft of motor vehicle parts and trespassing on an unoccupied structure.

In a rare twist of fate with good news, no one was injured. Also, the Chevy was returned to its owner. Oftentimes, stolen vehicles are wrecked and destroyed. Or they’re never seen again. Sometimes, they’re parted out and abandoned.

If Friol didn’t pull over, then things could have been much worse. But he was taken to the Turner Guildford Knight Correctional Center. This will probably impact his Uber driving career as he can’t provide rides.

Also, it’s unclear where the vehicle was taken from.
