Indiana trucker finds $16 million worth of cocaine in trailer

A trucker was in for a surprise after stopping at a truck stop in Indiana. After resting at the Pilot Travel Center in Whiteland, Indiana, he started a pre-trip inspection.

He noticed that the seal on his trailer had been tampered with. So he called the police to report suspicious activity. They responded to the scene on East County Road around 5 PM.

Upon investigating and opening the trailer, they found 10 boxes that were different from the driver’s original load. They were filled with cocaine. The value is estimated at about $16 million!

According to News 4, this is the largest cocaine confiscation in the history of Indiana. Initially, the quantity of drugs seized caused a security concern because they didn’t have enough room to store it in the evidence room.

Investigators no longer have possession of the cocaine, and it’s scheduled to be destroyed. However, they’re still working on the case. No suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

I’m assuming the tractor-trailer was parked out of the view of security cameras. Also, did the cocaine get placed in the wrong trailer? Someone could get in serious trouble for losing that much product! But at least the trucker who found it isn’t in trouble if he’s really innocent.
