Ohio truck driver goes airborne in field then hits 2 trucks on highway
Imagine that you’re driving down the highway and you spot a truck flying over a field. Then the pickup hits two more trucks on the interstate. This story actually happened to truck drivers in Ohio when a man lost control of his vehicle.
An Ohio truck driver goes flying and lands on the highway
For what probably seemed longer than a few seconds, a truck went airborne in Ohio. Then, police officers had to piece together what happened as it slammed into two other vehicles on I-75 South.
Police officers quickly responded to reports of a multi-vehicle accident on State Route 571 exit to Tipp City around 9 am. They found a mangled red truck, white truck, and semi-truck blocking traffic.
According to WHIO, the white pickup was near Menards on Weller and Harmony Drive. Then it went about 370 feet through a field and caught air. It crashed through a fence and then t-boned the red pickup. The semi-truck was clipped.
Luckily, the trucker didn’t suffer any injuries. But the drivers of the red and white pickups were both transported to local hospitals for treatment. They were alert and speaking with investigators and emergency responders before leaving the scene.
It’s unclear why the white pickup took a sudden turn through a field. Officers are investigating whether the driver was suffering from a medical emergency. No reports of operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol were mentioned.
It took hours for crews to secure the scene and clean up the mess, causing traffic to back up for hours. Things could have been much worse if the tractor-trailer had been struck with a little more force.
