The Truck Brand With the Best Resale Value Isn’t Ford or Chevrolet
Get ready for a surprise! The truck brand with the best resale value isn’t Ford or Chevrolet. Those aren’t even the most valuable American brands. The winner hails from Japan. So, which trucks are holding their value the best?
Which truck brand has the best resale value?
Drum roll, please. The truck brand with the best resale value is Toyota. Shocking, right? Well, maybe not. The Toyota Tacoma is a legend, but the Tundra has been facing its fair share of problems.
According to CarEdge, as a brand Toyota has a 72.30% resale value after three years of ownership. That means cars and SUVs are included in the data. Also, ranking brands by three years instead of five is interesting.
Then GMC is the highest ranking American brand with a score of 66.30%. Next, we have Ram with 65.30% and Chevrolet with 63.80%. Ford is in 11th place with 62.30%.
After five years of ownership, the 2025 Toyota Tacoma is expected to maintain 64.1% of its value. The Tundra should retain 68% of its value. The Ford F-150 has a five year value retention of about 50% and the Ranger has a 55% value retention rate. Then the Maverick has a 54%.
Also, the GMC Sierra 1500 should maintain 51% of its value, and the Canyon could hold 64% of its value. The Chevy Silverado should have a resale value of 42% after five years, as the Colorado maintains 48%.
Last but not least, the Ram 1500 is expected to have a resale value of 59%. So, despite me being surprised about the Tundra, the figures check out.
