I would say at least this Pennsylvania man tried. However, he really shouldn’t have. Police officers shared that the suspect stole multiple vehicles. He parked the stolen trucks along the railroad in an attempt to derail a train.

Pennsylvania man tries to derail train with stolen trucks

Everything started in Springdale, Pennsylvania, as police officers received a call from PPG Paints. The business owner stated that two of their semi-trucks were stolen during the night.

Investigators discovered a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer along the railroad tracks on South Railroad Street. It was still in drive. Then they found a 2023 Kalmar yard tractor on the railroad tracks on Colfax Street, with a trailer attached.

Video footage from the scene allowed police officers to identify the suspect as 34-year-old Scott Andrew Heffner. He was seen driving to and from the scene in his mother’s car. In a strange twist, he willingly went to the police station for an interview.

Heffner took responsibility for the stolen trucks. However, according to TribLive, he had to do it. He shared that he was being watched and someone on his phone was talking to him.

Heffner claims he was being told to move the trucks on the tracks and to cut the power to the building where the water was coming out. Plus, he was being watched by the government, and they wanted to kill him.

Officers charged Heffner with felony counts of causing or risking catastrophe, theft, and receiving stolen property. Misdemeanor charges include unauthorized use of a vehicle, loitering, and prowling at night.
