As 2025 came to a close, Toyota trucks aren’t selling at the same levels. One model ended the year with a sales decline, while the other experienced significant growth. Can you guess which one falls behind as the other dominates rivals?

Toyota trucks are selling at different levels

Sales figures indicate that drivers don’t love Toyota trucks equally. However, let’s start by saying congratulations to the Toyota Tacoma. It ended 2025 with about 276,638 units. In 2024, it sold roughly 192,813 trucks. So, it has a year-over-year sales increase of 42%.

According to The Fast Lane Truck, the Toyota Tundra sold 159,528 trucks in 2025 and 147,610 units in 2024. It experienced a sales decline of 7.5% year-over-year.

The Ford F-150 is the Tundra’s biggest rival, and it ended the year with 828,832 sales. Also, the Tacoma’s largest rival, the Chevrolet Colorado, ended 2025 with about 77,390 sales. So, the Tacoma is dominating the competition while the Tundra is struggling to stay in the game.

The current generation of the Toyota Tundra has a reputation for not living up to the height of older models for being reliable. This could be due to massive engine recalls and other problems with the fit and trim.

While the latest Toyota Tacoma generation also launched with a few problems, they aren’t nearly as bad as total engine failure. Also, the Tundra doesn’t exactly have a work truck trim.

The Tacoma has an affordable two-door option without a rear seat to provide drivers with just the basics. Price has to be a major factor here. While the Tacoma has a reputation for being a capable off-roader, the Tundra is known for falling short compared to other full-size trucks.
